Crystal Speech provides unique therapeutic services targeting conditions within the traditional scope of speech therapy practice. We have a special interest in voice and cognition. Clinical services are available within the State of California.
As a speech therapist and musician, Ms. Schram has distinctive qualifications working with singers and others who use their voice professionally. She provides training to achieve and maintain the healthiest vocal function as well as rehabilitate the troubled voice.
SLPs have extensive training in the realms of speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognition, including the areas of memory, attention, problem solving, organizational skills, expression and comprehension. Traditional rehabilitation from cognitive impairments (often the result of an event such as stroke or traumatic brain injury), focus on identifying deficits and improving those areas of weakness.
Crystal Speech offers a unique Life Participation approach dedicated to advancing involvement in the client’s passions and preferred activities with the intent of making those endeavors more satisfying, and life more fulfilled. The intent is to stimulate a sense of well-being and purpose, to validate feelings and efforts, and to promote a sense of dignity.
Where traditional “clinic-style” therapy leaves off, this innovative, novel approach is client driven to produce meaningful real life outcomes leading to enhanced quality of life.
The Life Participation approach calls for a broadening and refocusing of clinical practice and focuses on re-engagement in life. This broadening may include facilitating the achievement of goals by working on anything where the impairment creates a barrier to life participation (even if the activity is not directly related to communication). This model considers the whole person, their environment, and the connection of therapy tasks to participation in the activities of daily life. Please contact us for detailed information about how this approach might benefit your loved ones.
